Whale Watching... or just fun boat ride...

Sun. Aug. 12, 2007

Vancouver Whale Watching. We set out hoping to see some whales, unfortunately or fortunately (depending on how you look at it), all we got was a wild and bumpy (to the point where I thought my uterus was in my throat!) boat ride!

Don't we look like we're in the movie Armageddon where we're about to set out to save the world?

Ok, here we go...

Wow, the captain is really picking up speed!

Damn, I think I need that hat they forced me to take!

Some lazy sea lions and some sort of birds. During the calm parts of the ride, Cathy and I actually fell asleep. This is because the guide kept showing us various birds (like turkey vultures... I think the name turkey vultures is quite humorous. It sounds like something a stupid guy would call some ugly girl. Similar to Swamp Donkey. ha ha haa). Honestly, I was out there to see whales.. or Ogo Pogo. So unless they're showing me that, I'm not really paying attention.

The wool hats just wasn't enough... Hoodie time!

So after boating around for a few hours with no luck of seeing a whale (the company we went with has a guarantee of seeing whales. Therefore, we each got a credit to come back whenever and the best part, it's a lifetime pass), the captain headed back. However, our captain was awesome. He would pick up speed towards the other boats and then quickly turn. It was awesome!!! I think he really enjoyed having the 3 asian girls up front squealing and encouraging him on!!! Blaze On!!

Since we didn't see any whales this time around, I thought I would insert a pic from when I went last year. Here is what could've been.

The Eatery: a really cool sushi restaurant in Kitslano which is just a few blocks from my new place. It honestly looks like someone with A.D.D decorated the place, but it's easily one of the more awesome places to eat in Vancouver.

Yummy, Yummy Sushi!

The girls with the owner, Randy Lum. He's quite the perv but highly entertaining at the same time. There are incriminating pics which many would not be happy with me if I posted them, but lets say they involved "Miso Horny" astro boy thongs which we all received from Randy.

After dinner, I had to stop by my new apartment to sign some papers. I'm subletting from this guy who is leaving on an exchange to Germany. Anyways, he has this human size cardboard cutout of Beyonce which his dad gave to him (needless to say he's gay). Apparently she is always the centre of attention whenever anyone comes over and we were not the exception.

Bye Bye RV =(

Sat. Aug. 11, 2007

Exactly 2 weeks after picking up the RV in Toronto, we had to say good-bye to our beloved home on wheels in Vancouver. It was definitely bittersweet...

After "slumming" it for 2 weeks, my feet were in dire need of a pedicure!

Christina's Birthday Dinner @ Zocalo (a very cute Mexican restaurant). sigh, it felt great to be civilized again. Dressed up and being able to eat and drink without requiring one hand to swat away the flies. Life is great!

Oh boy are we dark. You can barely see us until we smile and show our teeth!!!

Kissy, Kissy!

No Kissy, Kissy!

Whistler, British Columbia

Fri. Aug. 10, 2007

Ziplining in Whistler was AWESOME!!! It's basically an extremely fast cable line ride through old rainforests. I got to go on 5 different lines which went as fast as 100km/hr (there was one line that was so quick that you had to wear a parachute)!!! Also, it's about a 200 foot vertical drop. My favourite line was called the Godzilla (which we don't have any pics of). It was extremely quick and quite the drop. It was so quick that you had to put your body into a starfish position so that it slows you down. Apparently my starfish wasn't adequate enough, hence my rather hard slam on the brakes once I arrived on the other side.

F.Do and myself on the platform praying (though seeing that neither of us are religious, I don't know how helpful that was) right before surrending ourselves to the zipline!

The hardest part for me was just before taking off on the Zipline. Climbing up the rickety steps and looking down once they hook you onto the device. There was a whole lot of deep breathing and talking to myself while up there. But once I let go, it was "blaze on brother man" the whole way!!!

This cable line was a slower one which meant that you had to lay straight as a pin. There was one woman who got stuck which was quite amusing to her family who kept taking pictures as she was getting recused by our guide. ha ha ha haaaa =)

After an exhilerating morning ziplining, we finished off our day with a Gondola ride up whistler mountain.

The first part of the lift was all enclosed which gave me a sense of security. However, the 2nd portion was all open air and freakin' high!! I literally was not able to look down since each time I did, my stomach would have the most sinking feeling. I honestly do not understand how people ride up these lifts to snowboard/ski. It's mofo high!!!

You know you're MF high when you're headed into the clouds!

Beyond Human Size Inukshuk: Whistler is home to the 2010 olympics.

Life is great!

Suddenly, we were Kung Fu Fightas once again...

Back at Fi and Jay's place in Vancouver where the kung fu legend remains...

Whistler: "I Wanna Be A Kung Fu Fighta...."

Thurs. Aug. 9, 2007

The previous night we stayed at Fi and Jay's place. It was great to be in a home again. To be able to finally do our laundry and take nice long showers. So great we didn't leave for Whistler until later in the afternoon.

Just a warning, the pics get a bit weird here. I don't know what we were thinking once we hit BC, but we all of a sudden we felt as though we were Kung Fu Fightas.

And so the song goes, "I Wanna Be A Kung Fu Fighta...ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding"

Just check out the air we get! Quite the force to be reckoned with!

Ok there is a story behind this picture. 3rd year University, Cathy was helping me put together my stereo. A thinking person would remember to unplug the stereo before her friend attempts to attach various wires, however, this obviously did not occur. As I was organizing stuff in my room, out of the corner of my eye, I see Cathy jolt like a crazy person and fall onto the bed. It was quite the sight. I couldn't stop laughing then and I still can't stop laughing about it now. It was the funniest thing I've ever seen. Please note, I am not a mean person, I only laughed after I knew she was ok =)

We were so fortunate our entire trip since we had perfect weather throughout. However, once we reached Whistler it started raining like a mofo! Luckily we had nothing planned for that evening so nothing was ruined. Though we were in the village at the time and was taken on an unscheduled tour on the free shuttle bus. Is it too much to ask for the bus driver to actually know where he's going? Anyways, we finally made it to WildWood for dinner. They were not rated the best value restaurant consecutively for no reason. Just check out those ribs!!!
